Affirmative Action
The University of Texas at Austin is a Tier 1 Research Institution in receipt of federal grants and contracts thereby making UT Austin a federal contractor. The University is required to develop Affirmative Action Plan(s) (AAP) under Executive Order 11246 as amended, which prohibits discrimination by federal contractors with respect to women and minorities. The purpose is to provide all applicants and employees an equal opportunity and to further maintain a bias-free work environment. Additionally UT is required as a federal contractor to have a Rehabilitation Act and Vietnam Era Veterans Affirmative Action Program.
